Meet The Team
Nicole is our hospital manager and a licensed veterinary technician. She has been working with animals for 16 years and has been licensed for 13 of those years. She has been living on the Outer Banks for almost 6 years and recently bought a house in Stumpy Point, where both her and her husband are volunteer fire fighters. She came to the Outer Banks from Massachusetts and her prior work history included Tufts University Veterinary School and the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center of New England. She has specialized in Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Emergency/Critical Care. She much prefers her relaxed, low key lifestyle here in the OBX compared to the hustle and bustle of the North. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Sean, and her two dogs, Leonidas and Athena. She also has 12 chickens and 2 ducks. In the summer, you’ll mostly find her out on her boat soaking up the sun and reading a good book.
Jonathan is our veterinary assistant technician. He has always loved animals, but it wasn’t until he began volunteering with the SPCA that he started his career in the veterinary field. He found great satisfaction in helping and caring for those animals that really needed love and attention. Shortly after, he began working in a vet clinic as a kennel assistant. He has since worked his way up and continues to grow and learn every day. He has become a valuable part of the team. When he’s not at work, he continues to do what he can for Outer Banks Wildlife. He, along with his wife Cara, got a Wildlife Rehab License so he may continue to help mother nature’s furry and feathered friends right from his own home. He is also a volunteer fire fighter for Roanoke Island. When at home, he spends time with his 4 dogs, 2 cats, rabbit, and rats. He also recently welcomed a baby girl into his family. Working at the Animal Hospital of Nags Head has been a wonderful experience for him and he is “proud to be a part of this hospital.”
Rae Lee is the newest addition to the AHNH family. She grew up on the Outer Banks, but has moved over to Hyde County where she currently resides with her fiancé, Chris, as well as her two pit bulls, Zeus and Astrea. When she is not working at the animal hospital you can usually find her at her second job, The Christmas Shop in Manteo, or on her dad’s farm hanging out with the cows and pigs. She is studying in her second year via distance education through Penn Foster College to become a veterinary technician. She is “Loving every second of her job and is excited to learn something new every day.” In the future she wants to further her education and become a veterinarian however, for right now she’s content with where she is at and what she is doing.
Brenda is our full-time veterinary receptionist. She has been an OBX resident since 1992. She currently resides in the quaint village of Wanchese with her 2 dogs, Lucy and Ethel, and her cat named Ricky. She has always been an animal lover and has been enjoying her job here at the Animal Hospital of Nags Head and “loves the staff she works with.” Having lived all over the country, including Alaska, she has found that her heart is here on the beautiful Outer Banks. If you don’t already know Brenda when you walk through our doors, you will surely know her by the time you leave. Brenda always makes people feel at home and as if they’ve known her their whole lives.
